What is the rool tool used for? How does this tool allow you to change an edit point and how does it affect adjacent clips?

    the roll toll moves an edit point without affecting the rest of the timeline. The first (outgoing) clip is made shorter while the second (incoming) clip is made longer by the same amount, or vice versa. The net effect is that the overall length of the program is not altered.

    The roll tool is used where two clips intersect. You can slide this dividing line back or forward. It will adjust the first clip’s out point and the second clip’s in point and keep the length of both clips the same. It is helpful because it will not affect any other clips besides those two.
